Exploring Marbella & Andalucia
Considered to be one of the most exclusive resorts in the Mediterranean, Marbella is a combination of modern buildings and shops, marbled seafront promenades and old town. The old town is a delightful maze of historic buildings and cobbled streets leading to the famous Plaza de Los Naranjos where you can enjoy delicious seafood or other Spanish, Italian, English and French cuisine. Alternatively, you can dine in one of the numerous tapas bars or one of the many restaurants overlooking the port.

The beautiful Parque Alameda, situated in the heart of Marbella at the top of the Avenida del Mar, is host to various cultural events throughout the year including the Marbella Feria.

Paseo Maritimo, the 6 km long promenade that follows the coastline of Marbella town is a popular tourist spot and a part of the 25km long Marbella’s coastline and beaches. It provides opportunities to enjoy views of the local beach and beyond to Gibraltar and Africa. All along the Paseo Maritimo there are shops, stalls, malls, cinema, restaurants and cafes serving Andalucian cuisine and traditional Spanish tapas - many places and things to see and do. It is particularly popular on warm summer evenings when locals and tourists alike take a stroll along the seafront.

Due to its scenic settings, Paseo Maritimo is listed amongst the main tourist attractions of Marbella and remains busy all year round.

At approximately half a mile in length, beautiful Playa del Ancon features the fine sand that is common throughout the Mediterranean region. The beachfront is located adjacent to Playa de Rio Verde and the Ancon Urbanization, which has contributed to the appearance of the beach. White houses and dense vegetation are visible from Playa del Ancon. Beach visitors are catered for by the many restaurants along the beach as well as bathing facilities.

Puerto Banus
Beyond Marbella is bustling Puerto Banus, a haven for luxury yachts and the rich and famous. Here, you will find a fascinating blend of people, boutiques, exclusive fashion shops, restaurants and nightclubs. Enjoy the favourite pastime of 'yacht-watching' and 'people-watching' from a marina-side café or restaurant, or partake in nightlife that often continues until dawn. A particular favourite amongst tourists is Sinatra's Bar - situated at the entrance to the port where you can enjoy stunning views and champagne cocktails. Sinatra's is reported to have welcomed many movie stars, sports stars and sheiks.

Mountain Towns and Villages
Historic Ronda, one of Andalucia’s lovliest towns, is approximately one hour's drive from the coast. It is situated in a fertile valley set high in the mountainous region of Sierra de Nievas. Ronda is famous for its breath-taking river gorge, spanned by a magnificent bridge which divides the medieval town from the 18th century parts of the town. Enjoy the spectacular walkway along the top of the river gorge with superb views of the countryside below or the beautiful gardens of the 18th century palace - Casa Del Ray. The town is also famous for its bullring, the oldest and one of the most beautiful in Spain.

Picturesque Mijas with its white washed buildings and beautiful views of the Mediterranean coast, is half an hour’s drive from the villa. In the attractive village square, you will find a variety of shops selling an array of handicrafts and leather goods. Donkeys or horse drawn carriages take tourists on rides through the village.

Other Areas
To the west of Marbella is the town of Estepona with its lovely churches, town square and modern port. Beyond lies the Rock of Gibraltar where you can take a cable car to see the Barbary apes and enjoy the magnificent views of the Spanish and African coasts. A large population of dolphins can be found in the Bay of Gibraltar. Take a boat trip to see the dolphins swimming and playing in the warm Mediterranean waters.

Stunning Seville, situated some 85 miles north west of Marbella is well worth a visit. Travel by car or bus company Los Amarillos operates a service from Marbella to Seville via Ronda (just over three and a half hours journey). Some two or a half hour's drive inland from Marbella is the beautiful city of Granada which has many old and lovely buildings. Visit spectacular Alhambra Palace, considered to be one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, or just enjoy the ambience of all that is essentially Spain.
